Mission Statement:
The mission of UNA Local 196 is to recognize and represent our diverse membership by serving as a knowledgeable resource through effective communication and accountability.
Local 196 Capital Health Community serves the Capital Health Region #6 ,which includes the City of Edmonton, St. Albert , Sturgeon County, Sherwood Park and Strathcona County, Leduc and Leduc County.
To assist the staff serving in the community our local depends on a group of Office Representatives based in each office. With this system in place, Local 196 is able to provide a cohesive service over the large geographic area we serve. We currently have over 40 offices and the specialties that are covered are Public Health, Home Care, Community Care Access, Travellers health, Birth Control, CHOICE ,Regional Continuing Care and Regional Mental Health, TB clinic , STD clinic and Health Link.
Vision Statement
Local 196 strives to create and maintain an active and engaged membership demonstrated by increasing attendance and participation in local functions and positive feedback about UNA at the local and provincial levels. The members and executives of Local 196 will embody pride and demonstrate confidence in themselves as individuals, nurses and union members.
Local 196 will continue to stimulate and encourage open discussions with its membership. It will be visible to its duespayers by having active committees, as well as facilitating seamless communication between its executive, reps and members.
